Wedding Reading: Love is like a Big Mac

Love is like a Big Mac
by Dudley Alden

Love is like a Big Mac,
It’s lofty, tall, and high.
Two tender patties of seasoned flesh,
Entwined beneath the sky.

Layers of warmth and secret sauce,
Each bite is set together.
No matter the price, the cost, the toll,
Destination: shared pleasure.

Lettuce and pickles amongst another,
Like memories old and new,
Embraced by soft and golden buns,
Is love we savour and accrue.

Wrapper unfolded, lives remoulded,
Appetite grows and grips.
Both love and burgers can’t be beaten,
Accompanied by chips.

Ebbs and flows, how both behave,
Sometimes messy, sometimes neat.
The flavour never really differs
When the formula’s complete.

Like a Big Mac, love may be large,
Could be daunting, could be grand.
It can look beige, but that’s alright,
The taste is never bland.

With each bite, each glance, each grasp,
Each hiccup and each stare,
Love, like a Big Mac,
Is beyond compare.

As a wedding videographer, I film countless moments that make each wedding celebration unique. Some are visual, some are emotional, and some are simply full of humour and charm. One reading that really stood out was “Love is like a Big Mac” by Dudley Alden, delivered and read by himself at the wedding of Cheskie & Mike.

I shared this reading on Instagram Reels, thinking viewers would appreciate its playful take on love, and it quickly resonated, reaching over 400,000 views at the time of posting. The reading’s success came not just from the clever metaphor, but from Dudley’s humour and understanding of his audience. It’s a perfect reminder that at every wedding, there’s often someone with a talent for words. And letting them shine adds to the many memorable moments you’ll create on your wedding day.

It’s a wonderful example of how personal touches make weddings memorable. As a wedding videographer in Bath and across the UK, capturing these moments, whether it’s a heartfelt vow, a humourous reading, or a spontaneous laugh is what makes each film timeless.

If you’re planning your wedding, take a moment to think about the hidden talents among your friends and family. Their words, humour, and personal touch can turn a beautiful day into something truly unforgettable!
